Adult beginner sessions

Are there any local adults who would welcome a set of sessions (x 6) introducing roller/nordic skiing on the Glenmore track? What day of the week/time of day would be best. Contact for more details or to register your interest.

Many thanks to CBNSC members & it's supporters for collecting Tesco Sports Vouchers,
we managed to collect 2424 in total!

We have ordered:
4 large wheely kit bags for the roller skis/boots etc when the club is on the move
5 stop watches
40 small 'Quoit' rubber rings for games & skills
50 plastic space markers & holder for slalom skills
1 skipping rope to use up the 16 vouchers left!

Pictures of the range under re-construction here. Mike Dixon & Norrie Dudgeon, are featured digging out over 20 tons of sand and building a retaining wall in the pouring rain. These alterations to the Biathlon Olympic Training Centre range are necessary to satisfy the range licensing officer and will allow the range to be fully licensed. Also in the pictures are Glenmore Lodge's Charlie Warpole & Nigel Williams; their invaluable help was much appreciated.

The CBNSC hope to have the range certified by the end of January 06 & introduce Biathlon (cross country skiing/roller skiing & rifle target shooting) to the club in the spring!

There has been lots of praise & words of thanks for coaches Al Dargie & Roger Hoymer who ran the fun training session on Christmas Eve which everyone enjoyed immensely! There was a great spirit amongst all present.

Also received, appreciation & thanks for other committee members for their hard work this year & Mike Dixon for all his coaching when he was home this summer.

We may run a fun session this Saturday for junior members if there is enough interest. Please let us know at cbnsc@onetel.com if you are interested!

We seem to be experiencing some problems with CBNSC e-mails at present. If you have sent an email & not got a response or sent one about this Saturdays training, could you re-send it please & request a receipt! Thank you!

Our Events Organiser, Karen Lawrie has sent her thanks to everyone who was involved in our CBNSC Championships at Glenmore Lodge. See here for the message from Karen. Karen did a fantastic job of organising the event, it flowed smoothly & was enjoyed by the children & adults alike.

As a club we are privileged to have Glenmore Lodge (background) as our base. It is a very impressive Club House!

We now have approx 1,500 vouchers collected so far! That's a fantastic amount for a small (& new) club. Well done to everyone! The scheme ended on 6 November 2005. A really superb day was had by all...the rain held off...the sun shone & CBNSC Junior members raced all day! A full report to follow, but for now, you can see the EVENTS page for the results! Lots of pictures of the racers to follow shortly!

Glenmore Lodge have kindly agreed that CBNSC members may use the roller ski track in their grounds outside of training sessions, when accompanied by a responsible adult. Those who have not skied the track there under the instruction of a club coach should not attempt this. Also, please keep to the loops that you can ski competently.

This will be good news in particular, if you want to get some extra practice in before the races next Sunday. On arrival at Glenmore Lodge, please check in at reception, here you will be advised if there are other users or cyclists, who will have priority use if booked in. If you want to check the availability of the track, please call Glenmore Lodge on 01479 861256.

Next roller ski training session will be next Saturday prior to the race (times yet to be confirmed). If you have not had previous experience on the race course with a club coach, you will need to attend this session if you'd like to do the race. We are sorry about this, but there is quite a difference between the Kingussie & Glenmore tracks & as novices racing, the coaches felt that this was a sensible precaution. See SESSIONS page for further details.

A waterproof jacket was been found, lost possibly last month. It is grey and size or age 12. Contact CBNSC.

Racing for the CBNSC, Mike Dixon came a close 3rd in this demanding 4 hour roller ski race, covering a total distance of 69.5 miles.

Roller ski session times for this coming week will be posted on the SESSIONS page by 9pm this Sunday evening.

This Saturday, 22nd October, several of the senior CBNSC athletes will be taking part in a 4 hour Roller ski distance race in London at Hayes Cycle Track, near Heathrow.

Below is a brief extract describing the event, from Paddy Field, London Region Nordic Ski Club (LRNSC)...Can't post a link to their site as it appears to be down at present.

"...the format of the 4 hour event. 4 hours is the maximum, and participants can ski for as long (or as short) as they want during that time. So youngsters can ski for half an hour, take a break, ski again, take another break, and so on. Each completed lap will be recorded to give a total distance. Last year the totals varied form 107kms to 4.8kms (three laps)!!"

CBNSC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Following the great time had by all who took part in or spectated at the races in Huntly last month, the CBNSC are holding a Roller Ski Club Championships for CBNSC club members, at Glenmore Lodge on 6th November 2005, to be followed by a buffet dinner. We have yet to confirm all the races, age groups, cost of the buffet, roller ski's to use etc but to give you an idea, race entry for the day will be approx £3, the buffet will be approx £5 per head.

1st place cups will be awarded for age groups under 12, under 14, under 16 under 18 and Seniors. There will be medals for each competitor taking part. Also, there will be the opportunity to win the annual trophy for the Under 14's (under 14's is an amendment, it previously read under 16's) & under 21's male & female Champions. Karen Lawrie has donated two cups for the under 16's and we are currently looking for the two further cups to be sponsored by any interested person/business for the under 21's. LOGO COMPETITION
Design a logo for your club! Winner to be announced at the CBNSC Club Race Day! Competition open to all CBNSC club members. Use any means of designing your picture ie. computer, pencil, pens, paint, collage etc and any colours. Your design should incorporate certain aspects of the club and can include a separate description of the design if you wish. The final product must be no larger than A4, with your full name & telephone number written on the BACK of the paper. We recommend that your design is fairly simple as it will be on future CBNSC clothing & paperwork. One entry per person to handed in to Mike Dixon or a committee person by 31st October 05. Winner will be decided by a small panel of non club persons, yet to be confirmed.

AGM & RACE MEETING
All welcome to the CBNSC AGM 7.30pm Thursday 27th October, Glenmore Lodge, followed by an informal race meeting for those interested in, or with any questions about, the Club Championships.

you can read more the kit/equipment available etc. on the link below

The scheme runs from 12 September to 6 November 2005.
The order for kit or equipment- complete with all vouchers - will need to be received by Sunday 15 January.
